house haulage
week 5. started off week 5 on part 2 of first aid lesson by rowan smiley. not as interesting as part 1 on friday last week when we practise CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) on adult, child and infant manikins. remember DRSABCD.
D - check for any dangers in immediate surroundings to patient, to yourself and others
R - check for response if patient is conscious; ask questions, gentle but firm touch to shoulders etc
S - shout for help, get someone to call 111 and report back when ambulance will arrive
A - clear airway; tilt chin back to allow tongue to clear airway, remove any obstructions e.g. food, vomit
B - check if patient is breathing
C - commence CPR (30 pumps @ 100 beats/min followed by 2 breaths, repeat until ambulance arrives
D - use defribillator to resuscitate heart.
practised on bandaging for part 2. fractures, chest wounds, burns and other injuries. scary pictures of real life injuries.

highlight of the week. watching the house haulage crew prepare one of the completed unitec houses for relocation. jacking up the entire house onto wheeled carriage. houses are usually moved overnight when traffic is light. police permit and pilot vehicle escort required.

started work on site cabin for our house. shelves and drawing layout table.

  1. Good work Robert, more detail in each main points covered onsite. for example how was each of these outcomes achieved. - profiles, measuring for boundary string line and setting the jack studs onto the sole plates. What was the main points learned to achieve each of these examples. This to see evidence that you can do this again on your own.
