D - check for any dangers in immediate surroundings to patient, to yourself and others
R - check for response if patient is conscious; ask questions, gentle but firm touch to shoulders etc
S - shout for help, get someone to call 111 and report back when ambulance will arrive
A - clear airway; tilt chin back to allow tongue to clear airway, remove any obstructions e.g. food, vomit
B - check if patient is breathing
C - commence CPR (30 pumps @ 100 beats/min followed by 2 breaths, repeat until ambulance arrives
D - use defribillator to resuscitate heart.
practised on bandaging for part 2. fractures, chest wounds, burns and other injuries. scary pictures of real life injuries.
highlight of the week. watching the house haulage crew prepare one of the completed unitec houses for relocation. jacking up the entire house onto wheeled carriage. houses are usually moved overnight when traffic is light. police permit and pilot vehicle escort required.
